Your neighbors & friends on the ABUW Board and staff.
Thanks for another great
Boston in the Burbs!

Tingle on stage 2008On Saturday, May 3rd, several hundred of the ABUW's friends and neighbors joined together for a terrific night of music and comedy, all for a great cause.  Jimmy Tingle brought his "Jimmy Tingle for President" show to the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School Auditorium, and gave the audience a lot of laughs. Jimmy's opening act was the perennial favorite, ABRHS' own a capella ensemble, 13 Fish Named Jennifer. The evening was a great success, with the proceeds going to the ABUW's support of local health and human serice programs. Special thanks to our sponsor, Not Your Average Joe's Restaurant, and the underwriters, Boxborough Insurance Agency and 1-800-FREE411. Thanks go to all who advertised in the program and all of the folks who attended that night - it was great!

ABUW Announces 2008-09 Grants
The ABUW Board of Directors recently announced its grant awards for the fiscal / program year of 2008-2009.   All of these organizations provide service and/or programs to Acton and Boxborough residents in one of the following areas - Children & Youth; Developmental Disabilities; Domestic Violence Services; The Elderly; Family Counseling; Hunger & Housing; Informaton & Referral; and Mental Heath Services.  It is with thanks to our generous donors that we are able to continue providing critical funding for these organizations.  To see a full list of agencies receiving grants, and the categories they fall under, please follow this link to Grants 2008-09.
Local Resource Directory Now Available
The ABUW's Community Outreach Committee spent part of the past winter researching and producing a new brief but comprehensive resource directory of local social service programs.  Download a copy for your home, office or faith community.   If you, a family member, coworker or neighbor are in need of support, please refer to this Directory for guidance on where to turn in times of need.

If you do not find what you need on the directory, please call 211, the toll-free information and referral line now available 24 hours per day.  This is a service provided by United Ways across the state of Massachusetts, and is available to all those who live and work in the Commonwealth.
